The Kaleidoscope Real World Video Challenge is a CIDA-funded public engagement initiative that aims to sensitize and engage young Canadians around global development issues and to support them in becoming responsible and engaged global citizens.
Building on the popularity of video-sharing, KALEIDOSCOPE is an open invitation to Canadian youth (8-12 and 13-18 years of age) to produce a short video (no more than 5 minutes) about what they think is the most important global issue, and what we should do about it.
To participate, youth must complete a KALEIDOSCOPE Submission and Consent Form, shoot their video, upload it to any sharing platform of choice (YouTube, MySpace, Rethos, Facebook or others), and register their submission at www.videochallenge.ca no later than 11:59pm, March 31, 2008.
Submissions will be judged provincially and regionally to select one finalist from each age group from each Council for International Cooperation across Canada. Finalists will receive a video camera or $1000 cash prize at a public event organized by each Council.
A national winner of each age category will be selected from the 14 finalists through a combination of on-line voting and review by a national panel. National winners will be recognized at a ceremony in Ottawa in May 2008.
** The contest is now open for submissions **
