Horizons of Friendship is delighted to announce that its Annual Literary Evening will take place on Sunday November 14th, at LeVan Hall, Trinity College School Port Hope.
“Writers & Friends” will mark its 16th year as Horizons’ signature fundraising event which since 1995 has featured contributions by over 110 outstanding Canadian authors. Readings, book signings and Q&A, live music, gourmet buffet, silent auction and live art auction are all part of Writers & Friends 2009 on behalf of Horizons programmes in Central America and Mexico. Watch for announcements on programme, tickets and early bird opportunities in coming weeks..

Horizons of Friendship is the only Canadian charitable organization working exclusively in southern Mexico and Central America. Since its founding in 1973 by three volunteers from Northumberland, Horizons has worked with partners in the South on behalf of marginalized communities struggling to improve their living conditions and to access basic human rights of health, education and livelihood. Horizons also supports regional programmes which address the growing problem of HIV/AIDS and violence against women. Writers & Friends, originating in Port Hope in 1995 with the support of Farley and Claire Mowat and Ronald Wright now includes Writers & Friends Kingston. Almost three quarters ahalf a million dollars has been raised by Writers & Friends and is matched up to three to one by the Canadian International Development Agency.
